I'd call first, but Augusta County appears to still do it. It's off I-81 at the Verona exit just north of Staunton. Notice that the linked page has different times for gun permit applications and fingerprinting.

(I've never had to be fingerprinted in VA for a carry permit. I don't think my father had to have his taken when he lived in Augusta County. I'm guessing you're doing out of state because the in-state fee is $50.)

"How can I get fingerprinted for a job application?

It is best to come to the office for fingerprinting between the hours of 7:00am to 3:30pm when our daylight personnel is here. Please bring the fingerprint cards if they have been provided by your employee and your driver’s license. We charge a fee of $10.00 per person and will accept cash or check."

You can call the office at 540-245-5333. The office is located at 127 Lee Hwy Verona, VA 24482.

Are you in the city of Richmond? Henrico County requires fingerprints, but the police department does them for free when you're applying.

Coincidentally, I just got an email from the VCDL regarding CHP applications. Towards the bottom is the info on fingerprints. You're not supposed to fingerprint on renewals. Maybe contact them to clarify if this only applies to residents.
NO PHOTOGRAPHS ALLOWED!

I cannot believe that we are STiLL having some localities photograph CHP applicants! There is NO authority in the law for the Circuit Courts or the police to make you submit to a photograph to get your concealed handgun permit.

If you are told they need to photograph you, REFUSE, and then get in touch with VCDL ASAP.

I have just learned that Botetourt County is requiring these unlawful photographs and we will be in touch with them about this on Monday. Apparently they have been doing this for years!

If you don't tell us when there are abuses like this, then they won't get fixed. If you refuse to submit to unlawful requests, then, if push-come-to-shove, there is standing to appeal to a higher court.

AN IMPORTANT REMINDER ON CHP RENEWALS:

Renew your CHPs no earlier than 180 days and no later than 90 days before expiration. If you do that, then your new CHP's expiration date will be exactly 5 years out from the expiration date on your expiring permit. IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THERE ARE LESS THAT 90 DAYS UNTiL EXPIRATION, your new CHP will have an expiration 5 years out from when the judge signs it - possibly causing you to lose weeks on your expiring permit that you had paid for 5 years ago. There is a THREE-MONTH window - don't miss it!

A REMINDER ON FINGERPRINTING

Only first-time applicants for a CHP can be fingerprinted. There is to be NO fingerprinting on renewals. Also, fingerprinting is up to the locality - if they pass an ordinance authorizing it, then new applicants are fingerprinted, otherwise there is no fingerprinting. Currently only about 1/3 of localities require fingerprinting of first-time applicants.
