i recently purchased an Interarms Virginian Dragoon Deputy in .357. It's in excellent condition and I'm trying to find the manufacturer date. The SN begins with J0xxx. I'm fairly sure it was made in Midland, VA between 1976 and 1984. Does anyone know of any sources?

This treatise is specifically on those revolvers, and depending on your variant, may have enough info to date yours to a specific year.

Thanks Speedo66. I have read Mr. Martin's treatise and it's very informative. I've also since done a lot of searching and am about convinced that there is no ready and reliable source for determining date of manufacture of these revolvers. The current Interarms company has no records from the old one.

Thanks Dr. Rob, at this point I'm a little frustrated so if you'd care to share your source, I'd appreciate it.

Info is indeed scarce. Gun Digest Modern Gun Values, 11th Edition. The deputy is listed separately and given those dates. If the company officially closed operations before 86 it suggests they were selling off existing stock.
