Just playing with incremental improvements to the Lipseys 11165 variation of the 10/22, which is basically a "clean" version devoid of all the tacticool bells & whistles.

First thing I did was replace the trigger with a 2-stage 1.25+1.25lb unit that is slick as a whistle; find out that they mean it when they say 15 in-lbs on the stock/action screw; installed a thin (0.012") paper shim at the fore end to control harmonics, played with various ammunition types (it really likes CCI Std Velocity and (oddly-enough) high-velocity bulk Rem Thunderbolt; and was about to go the next round in cleaning up the stock/action interface.

Volquartsen makes a very simple "pillar" insert for that interface, and also gives you a movable pad/shim to find the best barrel harmonic shim point.

Anyone have any experience with this (fairly simple) fix?

Yep - I had mine installed when I purchased the Fajen target stock. Works very well, worth it, & every bit of stability helps.
All VQ stuff is excellent quality - when I started adding VQ aftermarket parts to my stock 10/22, I wound up replacing every thing including the receiver.
My original 10/22 was purchased around 1976 & probably had about a jillion rounds thru it. So I started small with a Green Mtn. 20" barrel, VQ buffer & trigger group, Fajen target stock. Then the VQ bolt & finally the VQ SuperLite receiver. Accurate as all get out now.
After I finished it, I decided that mine is a dedicated bench rifle & I have plenty of field .22's.
Please post pics when you're done.

That is sweet.

I hope someone comes up with an aftermarket set up like that for my new Savage A17.

Having changed just one thing...

... now I'm not sure I want to change the bedding points.
