Vortex Venom on 22/45 MKIII

I'm planning on getting a Vortex Venom red dot to put on my 22/45. I do steel plate shoots every Sunday and this would really be a great addition to my Ruger.

I read somewhere that I can mount this to the top of the receiver where the rear sight was with a dovetail mount for a Burris Fastfire III… Is this true? Would it mount pretty much the same? Seems like the ideal way to do it as long as it's easy and straightforward to mount with the Burris dovetail mount.

If any of you own or have experience with the Venom, please feel free to chime in with your experiences and opinions on it!

I'm not sure about the dovetail mount. Your 22/45 should have come with a picatiny rail that you can attach to the top. That's what I would mount a red dot to if I were ever to do that with my 22/45. Just a thought
