I just posted this over at the 1911forum....
Got this sunny email from Josh Sugarman and the "factual, honest" folks over at the good ole VPC. They seem to think that their job is going to be more difficult. I wonder why? But don't fear...If you just send them some money, they'll make it all better for you!
Dear Violence Policy Center Action Network Member:
Since 1988, the Violence Policy Center has worked to stop gun death and injury in America--under different Presidential Administrations and changes in the control of Congress, and amidst the peaks and valleys of public engagement on our issue.
Throughout this period, three things have never changed: our dedication to fighting in the public interest to represent and protect those who are affected by firearms violence; our efforts to bring America's unregulated gun industry under control; and, our commitment to fact-based research, honest analysis, and effective policy.
Just because our job will become more difficult, it does not mean it is any less important. While violent crime is decreasing, homicide across America is escalating. At the same time, the fringe of American gun society is increasingly talking of violence in the wake of homeland security measures.
And still nearly 30,000 Americans die from guns each year.
As always, we greatly appreciate your support, time, and effort, and look forward to continuing our work together.
