Just wondering how much more scope is the VX-6 line? I have been looking at the vx-3i 1.75-6x32
Not as an anytime soon purchase just internet window shopping. while looking at that one I am also interested in the vx-6 2-12. I like lower power and 2-12x42 really covers all the magnification I would ever need or want for that matter as a once in awhile shooter and hunter. I have noticed the prices coming down on the vx-6 stuff still spend'e but falling a bit and was wondering what the experiences here have been. Local places haven't had both to compare and when I have seen them since I am not really ready to buy I am have not been wanting to sit at the counter and wait for an employee at the big box stores.

I think they are basically the same but the extra cost of the VX-6 comes from its 6x zoom range. If you want the extra power but still have the ability to go low power the VX-6 2-12 would be great. If 6x zoom is enough then save money and get the VX-3i.

6x is plenty for me most of my scopes are either 2-7 or 3-9 and they seldom get used higher then 4 or 5x. My hunting is usually done in really thick stuff so long shots are rare. Thanks for reply.

I have a VX-3 1.75x6x32 and it is a great scope. I don't own a VX-6 but look through them all the time, the reason being I work the Gun Counter at the Fort Worth TX Cabela's. They are not basically the same other than the zoom range. The VX-6 line glass is noticeably better than the VX-3 line. So when you jump from a VX-2 to a VX-3 you are gaining some but not a whole lot. When you go from a VX-3 to a VX-6 there is big jump in quality.

My 1.75-6x32 has a German #4 reticle installed by the Leupold Custom Shop. It's mounted on a 30-30 and for me is the perfect scope for the rifle. None of my scopes have a higher magnification than 10X. I would rather have better glass and lower magnification than higher magnification with lower quality glass. I do have a rifle, a .270 that I'd like to put a VX-6 2-12 on. It currently has a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9 on it that has never been lacking. I just really like the VX-6 line of scopes. YMMV.

I would suspect the vx-6 would have to have a dramatic step up in glass. I have a couple vx-1's and I am impressed with them so I'd imagine I'd be real happy with a vx-3i and completely blown away by the vx-6 line. As of now its just window shopping. My ruger american 308 I think does just fine with the vx-1 3-9x40. next year I am thinking maybe leaning into something like a savage 10 or maybe even a kimber 84 in 6.5 creedmoor or 308 and if I do I would think about spending the money on a higher end scope for it possibly. See how the funds are of course. As of now I have been enjoying reading up on them.

I don't have the 6 line, but do have a VX 3 3.5-10X and a VX 3i 3.5-10X. They are the 2 finest scopes I own. If the 6 is that much better, it would be high quality indeed. If don't mind spending the money, get the 6.
