I’m in the market for a new rifle scope for 30-06. What do you think about Leupold in the VX Freedom line ?

I've used that scope in the past, you could do worse. I think the older VX2 that it replaced was a little better. Leupold is never a BAD choice. But there may be better options out there. But if you're ever in doubt about 2 scopes in the same price range Leupold is a safe bet.

They have been discontinued, but there are still some Burris FF-II scopes out there. IMO it's a better scope than the VX-Freedom. MSRP on those was around $200, but I see them discounted at around $150-$160 from time to time.

Burris replaced the FF-II with the FF-IV. I'm still not sure the newer scope is an improvement. But you might want to look at that too if you can't find a FF-II.

Thanks jmr40. I’ll look into the FF-IV.

I was reluctant at first but I actually think they are comparable to the old VX2 they replaced. Can't say it's as good of scope but glass quality is probably better or at least seems to be as clear or more so. I've got some Freedoms but they are all on rimfires. I tend to go higher quality on larger calibers.
