VZ 58 Anyone?

I've never fancied the Kalashnikov design, always been more of an AR and Bolt gun guy, but the VZ 58 looks like a very nice rifle. Any thoughts?

Just ordered the folder version from Czechpoint today. Seems they are backed up from all the orders during the holidays, sucks I'm going to have to wait longer

Picked one up from Czechpoint some time ago. Great rifle just don't shoot it much. If I am going to head out and just blow off some steam the AK works fine. Target shooting with the 762x39 round can be a little disappointing compared to other rounds.
The VZ58 is a much refined version of what the AK has grown into. It is solid, works all the time, LRBHO and a variety of configurations. The draw back is the proprietary mags.

it's lighter than an ak and maybe a little more accurate

The only jam I got was when a Winchester primer somehow "fell apart",



...and the little brass disc got in the way of the bolt.

It shoots well enough for me, here is a man sized target at 200 yards,

Haven't been out with any real optics to see how well it could really do, that was with a non magnifying red dot.

Yeah, it's worth it.

I'm really thinking about picking up one of these. I've got some 7.62x39 sitting here without a rifle to run it through. I've had AKs in the past and never could warm up to them. These seem just different enough that it might work for me.
