I'm currently looking at an AK style weapon. Knowing the Czech's make really fine machinery and weapons, I'm tilting strongly toward the VZ 58.

I'd like some range updates if y'all wouldn't mind the time.

Is anyone shooting Georgia Arms 7.62x39? I like the prices. It seems that AK ammo has moved up the price curve along with everything else in this world.:cuss:

I just bought a CZ vz58 and should have it out at the range this next weekend. I'll be sure to post a range report. From all I've read it should perform well. CZ makes some fine weapons.

You may already know, but it does not use the ak action, but something very different.

I would like to have one also.

There was just a thread last week. I love mine beyond words.

Far more accurate than I am, and it's got the FAL mechanism and the AK lightness and fast handling layout.

I took mine out, shot up a pie plate easily at 50 yards rapid fire, Wolf black box ammo. Some reloads were able to get sub 1" groups, sitting, unsupported, still only at 50 yards, but better than any AK I have ever used, ESPECIALLY any WASR. Rifle is incredible, LOVE it. Magazines are the only problem, but I have a bunch on order. Get the CZ-USA build, worth every penny.

Vaarok. Respectfully, the FAL has a tipping bolt more like the SKS. The VZ58 has an action closer to the MP44, with that breechblock.

The VZ58 is not based off the AK47. It RESEMBLES one, but internally it's very different. They do not take the same mags but they do fire 7.62 x39mm and they are more accurate than the average AK.

aimsurplus has 700 rounds of romanian hotshot for 129 dollars, I just bought a box. Anyways, VZ58 has nothing in common with the AK47 other than some slight cosmetic appearances and that it shoots 7.62 x 39.
