Wait time on 7.62x39?

A couple years ago, I ordered 2K rounds of Wolf x39....back when it was 125 a case. They had a hard time keeping it in stock at the time (i forgot the reason). They estimated a two month wait and they were pretty close to being right on that.

I dunno, something may change so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Online it says 0-1 week, and people have been waiting since January for 1k cases without anything yet.

I ordered 1k rounds about a month ago and nothing yet. When I placed the order they said they expected a shipment on the 15th of this month. I called this afternoon and they told me there was supposed to be a shipment today. But I would bet that I dont see it for 2-3 months, if not longer.

7.62x39

Why not check out some local gun shows as I see and also buy lots of the same
every time I go. They also seem to always have plenty of AK/AR rifles for sale.
I am in Florida, so yours may not hold true.

Placed an order with Cabela's a few weeks ago for 4 cases of 762. I got the shipping notification after it was already here! Then I find out from a direct importer I can get it alot cheaper. Guess that means I just need to by more:neener:

I called Cabelas again yesterday and now they are telling me its expected in on April 15th. Every time I call the date gets pushed back. I will give it until May 1st, then Im going to cancel my order and get my money back. I hate these companies that know damn well they dont have it in stock, and they dont have a clue when they will get more, but they lie to you anyways and tell you some phony date of when it will be there just to get you to buy. Then when you dont get it, they just say its been delayed until such and such date. That new date passes and they give you a new date. Its pissing me off!

is it even worth to keep a rifle in 7.62x39? I don't think it is going to get any better, ammo wise. The panic mongers are still buying up the supplies of EBR rifle ammo (this was "front page" news on my local news station this afternoon about people wiping out the ammo shelves in fear of a AWB) and with Clinton beating the drum last week for an AWB, I place my bets 'x39 will be in short supply for the next year....

From what I gather, many of the smaller online stores
are slammed by all of the orders and are taking much
longer to get product out the door. The larger stores
can handle the volume but their popular stuff is out of stock.

Sportsman's Guide looks to be getting a bunch of inventory
in April.

Eventually the supply should catch up to demand.
The ammo mfgs. and distributors will want to make
as much money as possible from this current spike.

I remember after the first month Obama was elected
there was an hour wait at the range I went to.
Things seem to have died down and now it's at most 20 minutes
and usually 0 to 10 minutes.
Previous to all of this there was rarely a wait.

Unless you're talking about 5.45 or 7.62x54R as alternatives it is. It's not like there are any fire sales going on with 5.56 or 7.62x51 either. 5.56 might be available, but it's not cheap and with 7.62x51 you may as well take out a second mortgage.

Pretty much the only really cheap and available ammo out there is .22 LR and the oddball combloc surplus.

I bought 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39 for $290 before tax, or 3.5 cents per round. Those links above are 30 cents per round more expensive. No thanks!

Prices after election but before inauguration weren't as crazy like now and some companies like Sportsmans Guide didn't artificially jack up the price. I got a backordered 1K case of Wolf Military Classic for $189 in December.

I have been buying reloadable brass case soft points, a few boxes at a time.
