The last few years I have debated on loading up say 1-2k 223rem, 400-500 hunting rounds and a few thousand handgun rounds and selling everything and just buy factory ammo because my shooting habits have faded. I haven't reloaded any ammo since about spring of 2020 and lately with the price of things I really thought about selling off. Well deer rifle season starts Monday and I realized I cant find any factory ammo so I broke down and purchased bullets and powders, unboxed all my reloading stuff and it took a few weeks to get situated but the other night I set the bench back up, turned on some music and began loading. Next thing I know its 11pm and when I came upstairs my girlfriend said I seemed to be in a good mood because I rarely listen to the radio and singing along. I thought about it and said yeah, I actually enjoyed that. I cant explain it why I enjoy doing it but I do.

that’s great yes I also find comfort in my reloading room! I truly enjoy it as much as the shooting part that’s for sure!

I have went through frustrating spells, but mostly I enjoy it too. Thinking about my intended use is always a motivator.

Right now, after sixty four years of reloading everything from obsolete military cartridges, handgun, rifle, shotgun and black powder stuff, I find myself in the doldrums. I have a ton of lead, seventy five molds, piles of dies, A bunch of presses, components galore and I can't seem to get going. The exception is if one of the kids wants to come over and run off some ammo for one of their guns. Don't have a solution. Still like to shoot. Maybe I should just run myself out of a favorite load so I have to get back at it.

I'm like others, the pandemic has slowed my shooting and reloading dramatically. But get rid of my equipment, not on your life because I know I'll circle back to shooting and reloading when things get better.

The pandemic didn't slow my shooting. Almost dying from coronavirus slowed me some, but soon as I was able to hobble back to the bench, I was back at it.

Good news. It seems to bed a slow road to recovery.

Grandson asked me when we was going to shoot or hunt.
I missed opening of deer and can barely walk from bedroom to dining room, but it is improving.

We will get there.

I said a prayer for you sir.
It's been nearly two years for me. I started out not being able to walk across the room. I can do light stuff now, including walking and slow working. And heavier stuff like moving wood, if I rest a bunch during. If I push a bit and get real winded I am exhausted the rest of the day. I have lung damage, atrial fibrilation, and asthma from it. I'm only 38.

I feel for your. I'm 65 and it isn't fun.
I can walk 80-100 FEET and am exhausted for and hour.

Hope your can make a full recovery. At least, get back to a somewhat normal life. Sounds like you have more life long side effects and only 38. I feel for you. Recovery is slow

Many prayers for healing.

Well lets see if I can load 50 44mag rounds and 50 45-70 rounds by 11pm Friday night. Between dinner tonight and tomorrow night and working both days its gonna be cut close.

I’m still trying to get back. Recently moved so I tore down and packed up. It’s still in a stack of boxes in the garage. I have a plan but I don’t have time. Maybe over christmas when my customers are shut down…

It’s very relaxing for me and I feel good about being productive. It’s the same for some of my other hobbies too. I did find a secretary desk like I have wanted for about 12 years this week. All I have found before this one were either too rough or too expensive. The one I brought home Sunday afternoon is now my fly tying bench. I have only tied a few San Juan worms but I got the same relaxing feeling I get from reloading. Im looking forward to getting the reloading bench set up too. Maybe then I will feel like I can be me again.

You can't appreciate the relaxation one gets from reloading until you don't have time to do it which is my predicament at present. Hopefully that will change in a year or two. Perhaps by then components will be available and reasonably priced.
