What movies give screen time to Walkers?

True Grit shows a few scenes as well as Josey Wales.

Any others?
 
Yeah, Gus had a Walker in LONESOME DOVE.

Gotta love the last shootout scene in QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER.

There was a movie with Bruce Willis where one of the characters used a Walker. I think it was LAST MAN STANDING.
 
I haven't seen it in years, but in Wonderland, I think the stolen gun the guy fires in the bedroom is a Walker.
 
I just sent an e-mail to my nephew and he just answered. He has seen the movie 'True Grit'. (I haven't) He said if ya'll were talking about the gun the old man carried to town with him that he said served him well at Chickamauga that it was NOT a cartridge conversion in the movie, as evidenced when one night John Wayne loaded it for her while he was drunk and it resulted in a misfire when she was shooting at the man she was hunting. (or something like that anyway)....

Maybe .... I have seen movies/TV shows where they use cap 'n' ball revolvers that are actually cartridge guns so they can use modern blank ammo in them rather than reload a BP charge. Usually to save time during production, I think.
 
The NRA National Firearms Museum has the walkers that were used by Clint Eastwood in the Outlaw Josie Wales - they are cartridge conversions and are the same revolvers used in True Grit. One of the revolvers does appear to have a Dragoon loading lever on it - but it is a Walker.

If they only made about one thousand of them (Walkers) for the Texas Rangers then why are the movies alway's sticking a Walker in the hands of characters that have never been within one thousand miles of a Texas Ranger? Next thing you know Billy The Kid will be carrying one or maybe John Dillinger or Derringer or whatever his name was....

The first 1000 Walker revolvers made by Colt were for the U.S. Government, not the Texas Rangers. They were made at Eli Whitney's armory at Whitneyville, CT, during the early part of 1847, on a Government order brought to Colt by Captain Sammuel Walker of the United States Mounted Rifles for use in the Mexican War. There were around 100 civilian model Walkers and 240 Transition model Walkers made subsequent to the Government order. The Walkers weren't delivered till around November of 1847 & the war ended in Feb 1848; so they probably saw very little actual service. From there, they could have wound up anywhere.

Rented a DVD of True Grit.

In the scene where Matty first meets Rooster at the courthouse, they walk out onto the sidewalk together. The pistol Rooster takes away from her and levels across Matty's shoulder is definitely a Walker.
In the later scene when Matty shoots Chaney that is a Walker.
In a still later scene by the snake cave,, when Chaney is holding the pistol it looks like a Walker but the cylinder doesn't look quite right. It could be a cartridge conversion?
