FYI.

The Walmart and 72nd Ave. and Sheridan has great prices (for today) on Federal's "standard" rifle hunting ammo in the common calibers. Of course, the .308 Winchester is already sold out, but a decent selection remained as of 6:30 pm on 21 JAN 09.

.30-30 Winchester (150 gr. and 170 gr. JSPs) = $10.97
.243 Winchester (100 gr. JSP) = $12.97
.270 Winchester (150 gr. JSP) = $12.97
.30-06 (150 gr. and 180 gr. JSP) = $12.97
7 m/m Remington Magnum (150 gr. JSP) = $17.47

The Remington and Winchester stuff is much higher in price for the equivalent loads.

:)

Hey, that's my local Walmart! Perhaps I'll drive over to see what I can find.

Why are the prices decent there right now? Are they getting out of the ammo business like a lot of the other Walmarts around here?

Went to my Wally World last weekend in Texas City TX. They were pretty bare. No .223/556, No 9mm other than Blazer Brass, and little of anything else. The only thing they had that I wanted was Federal Auto Match .22LR and they only had 2 boxes of that.

None of the WalMarts in the area stock firearms at all.

The only "good" prices seem to be on the Federal rifle ammo. I asked the clerk, and she said that was the stuff they were getting on their limited inbound shipments. This store is NOT getting out of the ammo business. The only handgun ammo they had was WWB .44 Magnum. Last night, there was a couple of UMC .223 bulk packs (100 rds?) as well.

Good opportunity to stock-up on plain-jane hunting ammo at 2004 prices.

Are they getting out of the ammo business like a lot of the other Walmarts around here?

Other than poor stockage issues (like all ammo stores), which Denver metro Walmarts have gotten out of ammo sales? I know only a few sell guns now, but the all of them that I have visited seem to still sell ammo.

.455,

I guess I should have said the "firearms business". Few Walmart stores around here (actually, none that I know of) are selling firearms right now, and the ammo selection leaves a little to be desired.

I didn't recall seeing any: 40 S&W, 45ACP, or .223 the last time I was in a Walmart. Apparently they do have the .223 based on your last post, but I just haven't seen much in their stores to excite me lately!

I regularly shop at the 72nd/Sheridan Walmart for groceries, so I'll make a run to the back of the store to check things out the next time I'm in there!

Thanks for the heads-up. The prices are still good as of 2:30PM on the 22nd. :D

That looks like regurlar prices to me. That's what I pay here in AZ.

On another note. Maybe some very weathy investors and I should start a chain of stores called "Guns, Groceries & Gear" What do you guys think!

same here. went to local walmart today... they had NO bulk .22 or 9mm.. had a few boxes of blazer .45... had plenty of federal rifle ammo though... also had some remington .223 20packs.. it was pretty bare
