My dad recently passed away and had aa older semiautomatics and I was wondering what model it was and the value might it might have.

It is marked Carl Walther Waffnfabrik Zella-Mehlis I on the right side and
Selbstlade-Pistole Cal. 6.35 Wlather's-Patent. Serial # is a 5 digit starting with 80***.
The sight is a grove that runs the length of the barrel.
Has what appears to be the original black holster.
Looks to be in Exelent condition.

Thanks RC

RC, thanks for the link. If I did this right, I've attached 3 pics below. From what I can tell, based on the link you sent to me, I think it is a Model 5, but if you could confirm I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

It is a Model 5. There are only minor differences from the Model 2. There are two different slide markings, of which that is the earlier. The later left side marking read "WALTHER'S-PATENT CAL. 6.35" above the banner.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Looks very collectible in that shape to me. No 'between the wars' import markings and grip screws that are not chewed up.

Most 1 thru 7s and, to a somewhat lesser extent, the 8 and 9 models show their years of wear.
Finding really nice ones like your father left you is tough.

Also makes it hard to value. I could see that one going for 400 or more. They just don't come up for sale in that good of condition often enough for me to put a harder number on it.

Maybe someone with a bluebook that is not ten years old like mine can chime in with recent figures.

Keep it lightly oiled with the hammer down.

Thanks for sharing, JT

Thanks

Thanks everyone for your help!

I'm really not too concerned about value - I plan to keep it as a rememberance, but having the details on it is very nice to have. It was a gift to my dad from another man in the service during WWII after the D-day invasion.
