Looked at a P22 today for my wife. She liked it alot. Good price at local shop. Any issues or problems that are common with them?
 
Ammo sensitive not very accurate and can develop extraction problems dumped mine for a Sig .22 never looked back.
 
I just posted this on another thread!!...ha...My son bought one last month, very fun, but it jammed
to much for my liking with winchester ammo, he bought Federal copper coated an still jammed but not as often, he was told it takes about 500 rds. top break in but if you use CCI's it would run fine, which tells me the recoil spring is probably a little stiff, its fun to shoot, an he really likes it, price, threaded barrel in case you want a
silencer later on...
 
I own one as well. It was my first pistol 3 years ago now and I have to say that I enjoy the heck out of shooting it and so does my wife. The magazines are expensive but other than that the only problem i have had with it was when I was shooting Remington 22 lightenings out of it. The lead round nose rounds were leaving deposits inside the barrel and it was vary difficult to get it all out but finally I was able to.
 
I have mine for around 4 years now. I would estimate somewhere around 2500 rounds through it. CCI mini mags run great through this gun. All but maybe 50 rounds that have gone through it have been CCI brand. I do not recall more that a handful of jams or misfires.
 
Run a search. The gun has been discussed a dozen times or more since the first of the year on this very forum. Some folks love it; others despise it. Even those who love it understand that it's made of plastic and pot metal. That ought to tell you something, if not everything you need to know.
 
I had one it was crap, sent it back 3 times. Finally passed the trash.
Anyway if you buy one and it shoots reasonably well then keep it for plinking but no self-defense. Simple
 
I bought one a while back, it does just fine with Winchester HV and subsonic. Both run less than 1000 fps though. The only problem so far about 1000 rounds is the front site fell off, I glued it back on to stay.

As far as I know, all of the P-22's have threaded barrels, except the ones made for sale in CA. The threads on the barrel underneath the barrel sleeve are too small to mount anything heavy though. Adaptors with 1/2-28 threads are readily available that attach to the puny barrel threads. This is what most people use to attach a silencer. I made one that is 1x6 inches and still allows use of the small sights. It really quiets things down.

I bought this one for my wife because she hates recoil and has very small hands.
