Hello,

Maybe there's a different place I should post this, but I'm trying to estimate the value of my pistol.

Excellent condition, used rarely.

Thanks,

I rarely see them at gun shows at all (and I do look carefully, the P88 being one of my dream guns), and have never seen one for under $1200.

Hi Bill,

I don't want to break any forum rules. Should I be posting his in another part of the forum? Also, what do I do with the large capacity clips? Are they not able to be sold any longer?

Thanks,

You can post pictures wherever you want as far as I know.

If you want to post an advertisement to sell it, there is another cathegory for that.

Another question, is it legal to sell the gun with the larger capacity clips? The gun was originally sold with these type clips.

Thanks

If you're in Michigan, you're fine. Only a handful of states ban the transfer of high capacity magazines.

Hey, Thanks for that answer. I feel sort of wishy washy about sellng it after hearing all of the nice comments about the gun.

To my knowledge there is no federal restriction on selling hi-cap mags. Some states don't want you selling them into their state from out of state if they are more than ten rounds. I believe Mass., Calif. and New Jersey have such restrictions but check with someone who knows for sure. If you sell the hi-cap mags within the state I think that's still OK, but again, check to be sure. Hi-cap mags on a P88 add substantially to the value. They are expensive.

BTW, this is the original P88, not the Compact model. right? The original is a much more desirable gun, IMO.

Bill

I have two large capacity clips. As far as compact or standard, how would I tell? Sorry to be so ignorant.

<As far as compact or standard, how would I tell? >

They make it easy for you. The P88 says P88 on the left side of the slide. The P88 Compact says P88 Compact on the left side of the slide.

If you're wobbling about selling it, hold on to it. The P88 is unusually accurate for a production service pistol.

BTW, it's perfectly OK to post a picture of your gun here, whether it's for sale or not. Many of us really enjoy seeing what other people own and shoot.

Bill

000499 is the serial #. It's a standard P88. I'm going to go ahead and sell it, wih the two large capacity clips. Any idea what that's worth?

g90man:

I would recommend you consider posting the Walther P88 for sale on the buy/sell portion of the www.waltherforums.com site..

That way you get to dedicated Walther lovers, and there is even a Walther P99 "specific" sub-section.

Best Wishes,

J.Pomeroy
