I have a walther p99 bought it in 1999 new and thinking of selling it to a friend. It is 100% german made as per proof marks and date code of kk. Is this more desireable than current ones how is value effected in 99% condition less than 500rds fired. Oh it is a walther P99 military if that makes a difference.

I was just editorializing

about how much I like mine and would regret ever selling it. But that's just me.
I went through Sig, Beretta and Glock before I got the 99 and sold all the others.

I would say that it is less valuable since the newer ones have a standardized rail.

All the current P99's are 100% german made, as almost all p99's were. The olive colored frames are generally much harder to sell as well. If you got $400 for it I'd say you did well.

I would say it is more valuable, at least to me, I haven't seen a Walther one in a while, all I see are SW99s.

Well, I own a P-99 and I'd say "For the love of God, man... don't sell it!!!" it has been by far, the most accurate and enjoyable gun I've owned. Keep it. Who knows when it'll be useful! Also, it's quite a pleasure to have a 15+ magazine on a concealable weapon. (which beats a 92 any day)

Gun don't lose value. Maybe if you go to a gun store and crap. BUT... But in the streets it's worth just as much as you paid for it if not more.

I have two of them One is a P-99AS in 9MM and P990 in DAO. Both are terrific. the compact (P99AS) shots great and has so many features like DA and SA using a buttom on the side. The p-990 is wonderful. If I could carry (live in New Jersey) that's the gun I would pack. Its as reliable as revolver. The DAO pull is long and a little tough but remarkably I can shot pretty accurate for a DAO trigger. Both work great and are German made. I looked at the SW-99 but didn't like it as it did not look as well made.

I have a P99 and like others have posted, DON'T SELL IT! For me, I've traded away all my S&W auto's, but kept the Walther P99. Actually, we can only boost about our 99's, but you of course have every right and reason to sell yours. I'm betting however, someday you will regret the trade.

FWIW:

I respectfully suggest you never sell a firearm you own if it has given you good service and you aren't in desperate straits for some reason and need the money.

You won't get what you expect for the used pistol.. You will at some point wish to replace it, and then you wind up paying "new" all over again. Next time whatever firearm you buy might not wind up being as good as the P99 you are consider selling, and when you realize that you get the dubious pleasure of hearing yourself say "wish I had the Walther back"..

Trust me, it'll happen.

Best Wishes,

J. Pomeroy

P.S. By the way, I'm an old fart and I've had a pile of pistols incld. Sigs/Glocks/Beretta/Taurus/Browning/Tokarev/Bersa/Star/Keltec, etc.. NONE have ever been a better pistol than my Walther P99c/AS or my full size P99..

You have a super firearm, I respectfully suggest you keep it... Later on you'll be glad you did.

Best Wishes,

J. Pomeroy
