Walther P99

Don't forget that the trigger guards are different shapes, the slides have different profiles, and the accessory rails are different.

That dang'd "Walther Rail" is the only thing that I'm not at all fond of on my P99. I keep wondering if it has enough meat to be reshaped into a proper rail.......

When I bought my P99 (9mm) I compared the feel to the Beretta and Glock. The Walther (for me) was the best. I have small hands and I changed to one of the smaller adjustable handles (you know they provide three sizes). I only have two complaints. The DA trigger pull is TOO LONG! And, I'm not real keen on the magazine release lever/button. I do like the de-cocker. I guess that's why there are so many styles of handguns. I'm a firm believer in touchy-feely. If it don't fit...pass to another.

I have 4140 rounds through my P99 9mm with only a few stovepipes that I believe were user error. The gun runs like a champ.

Well at least they have them running better now. My lemon situation for over a year kind of soured me on the gun. The price is also much better now. They used to price them way too high for a polimer gun.

I purchased a p99 .40 cal titanium back in November. I love the look/feel/weight of the gun but since purchasing it I've had 2 out of 3 mags(light blue guide) bust while I was firing the weapon. The first time it happened I contacted Walther and they shipped me a new one, hopefully they will do the same this time.

Proof marks and 462 serial numbers

If you were thinking of a Walther P99 in 40sw.
Walther contracted Smith and Wesson to make a run of 3000 slides in 40sw.The run of 3000 slides began with the serial numbers 462xxx.These slides do not have the Walther proof marks on them. But will have a Walther lower on them.
So its only a half a Walther and full Walther price.
This is a issue with only the 40sw all 9mm were German originals and proof marked.100% Walther.
I have a Walther P99 OD in 40sw.It's a charm.I paid top dollar for it $650,a month later they drop to $480.Currently at about $580.I bought mine when the craze was OD P99s.
I have nearly 2k thru mine, sometimes it wont fire the 1st round thru the sling shot slide release method.Fires everytime first round using the slide release.
For the current price I'd buy quality, and theres alot better pistols out there for $580.
The Walther for me was my 4th pistol purchase.
Just a little food for thought.

P99 is an excellent weapon. I get accuracy that is every bit if not better than my Glock 17 ever had. Best features: interchangable backstraps for customized fit, choice of trigger pulls on first shot - DA, long SA, short SA. Decocker, loaded chamber indicator, looks. I compete with mine quite a bit.
