I have seen photos of the Walther P99c with the standard magazine and then in photos what looks like an extended grip magazine. What does a NIB
P99c come with in the box as far as magazines go and what are the respective capacities in .40 and or 9mm?

Thanks in advance.

That's a tough question to answer these days. You don't see many NIB versions sitting around, and Walther has recently gone to a single-mag-per-box standarad option ... but not all gun-sellers have followed suit.

The answer therefore likely depends on how old the gun is, or -- better put -- how long it's been sitting on a shelf somewhere; it also might well depend on the whim of the individual seller, be it private party or gunshop owner, at any given moment.

The 9mm magazine holds 10 rounds; the .40S&W holds 8 rounds.

Before last summer or thereabouts, you'd get two magazines with a new P99C; some of those might still be sitting around. One would have the finger-rest extension, the other would be flat-bottomed. You also can purchase a magazine extender (essentially a plastic sleeve) that allows you to use full-sized magazines from the P99 in the P99C.

Hope that helps a bit.

The P99C is a fantastic handgun, by the way; it's my current carry piece of choice.

searcher451...hence what it has in the box is what you git, so to speak. :D

I'm looking for a current new model QA. So apparently they have taken the SIG tactic and supply one magazine, the flush mount as standard NIB? Cheap bastards.

Interesting that the the standard will fit the compact. That's nice to know.
Where would one best source said magazines?

CDNN Sports is selling SW99C magazines, new, for $19.95 or thereabouts, IIRC, sans finger rest attachment. These mags also fit the P99C perfectly, and it's tough to beat the price. You also can get them through WaltherAmerica/Smith & Wesson customer service, though be prepared to pay more money from that source. If you get the mags from CDNN and want to pick up the finger rest attachment, Walther America sells them for $2.02 each, I think. It's a tough deal to beat. I recently picked up a couple of mags from CDNN and then ordered the finger rests from Walther America.

Hope that helps.

P99c

I bought my 9 mm P99c 3-4 years ago and it came with 2, 10 round mags, 1 flat base and 1 extended base, I bought extra extended bases and replaced the flat base.

You can purchase 15 round mags with a extended boot which makes the gun look and feel much better.

I bought the full size P99 last year and it came with 2, 10 round mags.

So SIGbear if you had to do over again, what you buy first the 99 or 99c.

I can't afford both back to back but am considering a P99 QA first. I have a bunch of pocket guns so deep concealment is not my goal. I am seeking something larger with more capacity and likely .40.

In the event that you don't want to get both (and you should), you can effectively turn a P99C into a P99 by using the extended magazines with the plastic sleeve that fills the gap. It's a good way to go. But ... something else to keep in mind: most Walther P99 lovers swear by the AS trigger configuration. I've got a full-sized P99 and a P99C, and both have the AS trigger. Wouldn't trade it for anything else on the market.

I agree with searcher41, I also have both with the AS trigger and wouldn't even consider the QA.

I chose the compact 1st and would do so again only because it's my daily carry, but I wouldn't part with either.

Two of my buddies chose the M&P over the Walther because it is $100 cheaper, they get sick everytime we go to the range and they try the P99.

I would reconsider your cal. choice and go with the 9mm, but that's just me.

Got Sigs, Beretta, S&W, Ruger, (IMO) there is no better handgun out there, some may be as good, but none better (I do love my sigs though).

I'll consider the 9mm. With the scarcity of 9 and the availiblity of .40 and nearly the same capacity.....maybe.

Now that AS vs QA trigger, that long first AS (DA pull) round is perhaps good for the Anti Stress aspect, and I guess to get rid of that it can be "precocked" and put in SA mode right? Is the SA of the AS mode shorter than the DA mode of the QA? I'll have to look that up in the specifications.

I was thinking of using it for some IDPA runs and that maybe the QA would be better for short pull short reset action?

I agree on the $100 difference between the M&P and the 99. The M&P in the 9L Pro from the performance center in 5 inch gets high marks though.

I see the CDNN S&w 99 magazines are all 10 rounders?? Why is that?

Check out this site, DAdams:

It will answer many, if not all, of your questions about the P99, including the various trigger configurations.

I'm guesing that CDNN Sports is offering 10-round mags only because those are the only ones they acquired. :) Too bad, too; their prices are great.
