Walther PP

I purchased a very nice Walther PP in 7.65, beautiful blue, nice checkered medium dark wood stocks. Frame is marked "LP By", slide is marked "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do. S/N is 338XXX.
Obviously built in Germany, but when?

Serial numbers 300301 throught 474866 are listed as being used by Manurhin 01/61-09/85. Perhaps someone has a more detailed breakdown.

I've looked around using my weak "googlefoo" and the limited library of fire arm info I have on hand and don't have anything on European manufacturing history. Please provide a few internet leads so I can sharpen my googlefoo lancet.

It can be Manhurin even if it says "Ulm" I've found conflicting info re. the date for yours. The place to look is here:

OK, I found the proof marks listed. German Eagle over the letter N. Used since 1952 for all nitro proofed guns made at Ulm. Now to just pin down a year.

The Eagle over N proof mark has been in use since 1941 in Germany. From 1952 until 1985 the Walther PP, PPK's and PPK/S were made by Manurhin, Bourtzwiller-Mulhouse, France. They were sent to Germany, where they were fitted and proofed. Regardless of what is roll marked on the slide, from 1952 until 1985, all of the Walther PPs,PPKs and PPK/S were made in France. In 1985 Walther resumed production in ULM , Germany This information is from " Walther Pistols, Model 1 Through P99 ", By Dieter H. Marschall.

OK, so by loose gestamation that would put manufacture in the early 70's, maybe, possibly, coulda, shoulda, woulda, IFN guesses work!!!!!!!!!!
