Walther PPK or Sig P232?

I'll give you another thumbs up for the Bersa, I've been carrying mine every day for 2+ years now. Over 800+ rounds down the tube with no malfunctions since the first mag (which I blame on lack of pre-cleaning before shooting).

Price is great, feels great, shoots great, carries great.

I wouldn't consider it a "pocket gun" although I have carried it in a mid-leg cargo pocket a few times when other options were unavailable. Not all cargo shorts have belt loops :)

And because I can't talk about my gun without a picture:

I like the feel of the 232 better than the PPK, but would offer another viable option; A Kel Tec P11. 12+1 of 9mm in a pocketable size gun blows away either for personal protection. It has a long hard trigger, but that is it's safety and it can be shot well with practice.

BLC,

In my opinion both the PPK and P232 are a bit heavy for pocket carry. For pocket carry I'd suggest going as light as possible - something like a Ruger LCP or Kel Tec P3AT. But if you're set on getting a .380 a sa/da, de-cocker, in the PPK size range, I'd suggest taking a look at the Bersa .380 CC (Concealed Carry). I have one. It's the least expensive gun I own, but works as good or better than my most expensive ones. Many hundreds of rounds through it without a hi-cup. Didn't need one of those ridiculous "break in" periods either. Works right out of the box, which is what they all should do. And the biggest surprise with the Bersa was that it had the nicest feeling DA trigger pull of any gun I own, regardless of price. And by the way, out-the-door price for my
Bersa CC was less than $300.

As far as shooting goes, the Bersa CC has the LCP beat by a mile, and will eat ammo that the LCP chokes on, but for pocket carry, I find that the LCP is what works best (as long at it's loaded with it's favorite ammo). But, you might feel differently?

Have you considered CZ? Sigs are great, but if you get a jam-o-matic PPK (it happens) you'll be unhappy. After break in the jamming stops - usually; but not always - - - and yes, they bite. I had a Sigpro in .40 S&W once and wish I still had it.

I've owned both and my impression is that the Sig is overall the better pistol (individual differences aside). They are both beautiful pistols in my opinion but I think the Sig is a bit bigger than ideal, especially in the butt. The PPK is very compact and giving up one round is, I think the easier to conceal. The Sig is slick, slick, slick, though. Both my Sig and Walther were very good shooters. Sig had a better trigger. Bottom line for me, Sig is the better gun, Walther is the better carry gun. Just my opinion. Don't own either these days, though.

if you get the P232, do yourself a favor and get the hogue grips for it. It'll save you from the slide taking a chunk out of your thumb web.

This is my two tone P232 with hogue grips... it is a rare version of the 232 as they don't offer the two tone with the stainless controls anymore. I don't really routinely carry it anymore, because I am not a fan of the 380, otherwise it is a great carry piece, easy to conceal and comfortable to carry. Instead I carry either my XD Sub Compact in 40 or a Kahr CW9 in 9.
