My PPK will fire, extract, eject and push the slide to the rear... and the slide will stay there - within a half inch of its maximum travel. I can drop the magazine and pull the slide the remaining half inch and quickly let go and it will sometimes release. Whatever it is hitting, when attempting to go forward, is hard-solid. The problem is evident about 90% of the time. 10 rounds fired, 9 times the slide stays to the rear. Sometimes it is necessary to pull the slide the last half inch and quickly release it several times before it decides to go forward.
Any ideas?
It only seems to hang up when fired, not when cycled by hand.

I wouldn't even bother. I'd call up S&W and have them ship you a box so you can mail it back to them under warranty. Whatever the problem is, it's worth having a qualified gunsmith looking at it. S&W customer service is top notch and they will make that Walther work no problems.:) They may end up replacing something or tuning something, but the bottom line is, you won't and shouldn't have to pay for it especially when it's under warranty.

ejector spring was broken. Ejector would stay in the down position and the slide would hit it as it tried to cycle. A new ejector spring was $4.20 plus freight from Numerich. Mission accomplished.

EHL is correct: Call S&W's customer service line, explain the problem, and they will collect, repair, and reship the gun to your door with no questions asked. The S&W Walthers don't always function as well as they should (and certainly not as well as the German-made guns, or even the French-made models), but you can't argue with the customer service you get from them.

+1...for endorsing S&W customer service. These folks are very responsive. IMO, the only other company that offers comparable service is Springfield. FWIW, H&K falls to the bottom of my list.
