Spent a bunch of time on the "search" function and found lots of good info. Beyond that, what's likely the more reliable/higher quality .22LR - the Beretta Bobcat or Walther TPH?
Thanks.

I've a Beretta Model 21, which I believe evolved into the current "Bobcat" over the years. I'd not consider it reliable enough for carry, but it certainly is reliable enough for a fun plinker, although misfires can be rather common with some brands of ammo.

I've no experience with the TPH, priced too high for my tastes.

IMHO, no small .22LR will be really reliable -- its said that's why JMB invented the .25ACP after he couldn't make .22LR reliable in such small guns.

For a small .22lr plinker I really like my Walther P22, or my FEG SMC-22 (a PPK sized .22LR). P22 being polymer is lighter.

Personally I think the .22 LR Beretta will be more reliable than a .22 LR TPH but not neccessarily more accurate.

That said, I have been looking for a blued .25 acp TPH for several years now with no luck.

If you're looking for a small pocket piece, go for a Guardian or a KelTec. Both are better choices than the TPH or Bobcat.

The Beretta 21A by far.

Walther TPH tends to break parts, particularly firing pins, expensive pain to fix.

Pocket 22 Cal

I would stay away from any Walther p22. I have one that has been sent back to the factory twice. :cuss: The factory has replaced everything execpt the frame. Factory service and turn around was good though. :)
I use a Taurus pt-22. It is a Beretta knockoff with the tip up barrel. It is rugged, very dependable and inexpensive. Give it a look.

I used to have a blued TPH. A friend had a stainless TPH. Both were jamamatics. Get the Beretta. Smith and Wesson was rumored to have plans to re introduce the TPH. I hope that is true. The concept is good.

Save yourself the trouble and get a Beretta Jetfire in 25acp.You gain centerfire reliability over the rimfire 22.You are losing velocity with the anemic 25 as opposed to the 22 but it's worth it in the fack that the 950/Jetfire is super reliable.I know a bunch of people here including myself slip one in the front pocket as an ultra backup bug. :)

FWIW, I had a German TPH several years back. Reliability was spotty (mostly failure to fire) and I sent it back to Interarms. They sent it back with a much heavier trigger pull and it helped the FTF problem. The only ammo I could get to fire fairly reliably was Remington Yellow Jacket. I only used it for recreation and decided not to carry it for defense or back up.
