Want a 357 snub

It took me over 2 years to find a Magnum Carry. Side by side with an SP101, they are about the same size, though the SP's grip is smaller.

The Colt's could be shorter if you mounted Cobra grips, but with full power 357 loads it would be hard to hold onto.

Both are big for a 'pocket' unless you mean a jacket pocket or those cargo dockers.

Have you thought about a small frame Taurus?

I have a Taurus 651 that isn't bad with .357 hanloads. 357 factory provides some stiff recoil, but isn't bad IMO. If money is tight I'd suggest the Taurus, but otherwise get a Ruger SP101 (you'll make me jealous if you do, but few handguns will serve you better).

Thanks to everybody for their input,

I've been able to narrow my choices down a bit, in no particular order

Taurus 651 shc
Smith 649 or 340pd if the price is right
ruger sp101 (already have a Blackhawk in 357 that is bombproof, lost count of how many rounds are through it long ago) so ruger may have a leg up on the rest

Now it is time to go talk with my friendly neighborhood gun merchant and see what kind of prices he will give me.
