Least Expensive .357 snub nose?

Franco, I completely agree with MCgunner on the 3" gun in a K frame. For me at least the 3" is a perfect balance of power and size. Rubber grips that give better control and decent recoil reduction can be had for $20. The 2" guns in .357 have too much muzzle blast, noise and recoil. That is for me. When I found myself being deployed more than a few years ago I made my wife choose which gun she wanted to keep to protect herself. She is not a big woman and the Navy (read me) provided her with training in the .45, .38 and then new 9mm Beretta. She qualified Expert in the .45 BTW and survived and passed a 100 round shotgun course with the 870 (she was bruised for quite a while, but sucked it up). A 2" S&W Model 10 was what she picked because she liked the round butt K frame, it felt good to her. I have found this too be true with a few women. She shoots it well even though she thinks it's funny to take alot of crotch shots on the bad guy targets, but that is another story. In .38 a 2" is fine, in .357 alot gets waisted as MC states. If she is up to the .357 look for a 3". Either one is more than enough for a 40 lb or so dog. I have owned one Taurus and found it to be a good value, worked well. I have never owned a Rossi so I cannot comment. I love Colts but the chances of getting a nice one for a decent price just to keep around the house is getting slim. Any of the Rugers are fine revolvers. We still have the Model 10 and remains our house gun. I have kept it loaded with whatever round my job issued at the time purely for liability purposes. Currently I am fortunate enough to be issued the 135 Grain Speer +P "Short Barrel" which is very tame in a K frame and most opinions are that it is the best snubby .38 round going at the momment. :)

Hank, if you are comfortable with carrying the SP101 while jogging you cannot go wrong with the Ruger.

Tarus 605

I got my tarus 605 for 290.00 plus tax at Sportsmans warehouse. Great little pretty and shoots great snubbie.

I also agree the ultra-light .357 Mags are just too hard to shoot and very uncomfortable too. That's why the 3 guns I listed in my previous post were all SS models that were 24 to 26 oz. The extra weight will serve you well in a Magnum. I answered your question as asked but I personally bypassed a J frame Ultralite Magnum in favor of a J frame .38 Spl +P. (S&W Model 638)
