I am looking at buying a 300 Win. Mag in the near future and am looking for some feedback. I am unsure if I want a WSM or the standard 300 but I am leaning towards the standard. I have been looking at a few manufacturers and I am not looking at spending big dollars on the rifle. Like anyone I want an accurate rifle but realize I do not need to spend $1000 to get there. It will be used mainly for hunting and will be topped with a 4-16x50 meuller. I am looking at the Rem 700 SPS, Win. Model 70 shadow, Savage, Howa, and also the Stevens. Any input or feedback and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

what did you end up going with? How do you like it? I'm thinking of going with the 300 WM or WSM, but the expensive ammo and sore shoulder are making me second guess myself. :p

The .300 WinMag is a very versatile round with a wide range of bullet types and weights available. A really neat and useful feature for someone that won't be reloading themselves is the BOSS system by Browning. It allows you to tune your rifle to particular factory loads. The handloaders method is to tune a load to your rifle. The BOSS works the opposite way you tune the rifle to the load. For instance you can have settings for 150, 180 and 200 grain loads.
