Want So Bad To Buy From a LGS...

beamon - after looking for a Kel-tec PMR-30 at several gun stores as far away as 50 miles, I ended up getting it from a local shop. The problem is that, while the Kel-tec website lists the MSRP of $416, this LGS was selling it for $460 !
On-line sites (gunbroker, GoG, Armslist, etc.) had prices even higher than that - if they even had one listed!
This shop did take off $10 for a "cash" sale and they bore-sighted it for me. The problem now is that the weather has been so cold, wet, or windy, that I haven't been able to get outside and test different ammos.

Thought of this thread when I was in the grocery store [Fred Meyer] tonight. They had a Berretta 92FS for $630. So when I got home I looked it up at Buds. They want over $700.

The PMR isn't typical though. Most guns sell for less than msrp, the PMR is higher everywhere

Luckily my LGS is a range and large storefront, and has many different makes to check out. On the lower margin handguns and AR's prices are usually within $50 and that makes it a no-brainer for me. If I were purely into saving money, buying from an on-liner in a state with no sales tax and a $45 shipping and FFL fee (plus $25 at my kitchen table FFL) would also be a no brainer on a purchase over $1000.

Truthfully I will spend about $100 more when but often not necessary. That's because I would be screwed without storefronts, unless my friends had all the guns I'd consider buying.

Now I can afford the premium. But truthfully how many of us are just cheap to begin with, versus needing that extra $50-100. Well, for most of you that don't reload you're wasting much more than that!

And for the guy that didn't buy into at least a little bit the concept of "Walmart destroying America" must live in the suburbs of a big city. When we travel through the rest of our country we can see the results all around us. It's kind of like exporting jobs overseas - at first a little bit didn't hurt. So now we can get cheap clothes or washers and dryers at WalMart - whoopee do.
