Please forgive the question as I never have any luck with search functions.

As best as I can remember someone posted pictures of a shooting box he made for his BP revolver and all the goodies we need to shoot them. I seem to recall that he designed the interior of a plastic tool box to hold the gun and accessories.

Does someone have any pictures of a similar design? I want to use it for 1858Remmie with 8" barrel. I want to use to a plastic tool box as they are more durable for rough handling.

Take a look at Cabelas, search for the Muzzle Loader Dry Box. I use one for my rifle accessories but it would work equally well for my pistol.

I'm actually interested in much the sane thing but for my contender. I just finished doing a box to hold my cartridges and cleaning supples. But it wasn't large enough to house the pistol as well. Hopefully someone will chime in with some good ideas.

computer bag

I use a laptop computer bag for my BP pistol, it works really well with places to put pistol, powder, tools, rags, etc.

I don't want a box to put my stuff loose in.

What I have in mind is making compartments for laying the revolver flat in the bottom of the box along with flask and a small bottle of cleaning solution.

In top tray have the cap tin, bullets wads, cleaning rods, etc.

Well what I did for my ammo/cleaning stuff box was as follows.

Find a box that's a little deeper than whatever you need to keep in it. Like 3-4 inches deep and big enough to fit everything in. I used the wooden box from a bass pro cleaning kit.

Get closed cell foam. Cut it to fit tightly in the box, lay out everything you need it to hold, trace it all on the foam, then cut it out.

I actually cutt the shape of the items all the way through the foam, popped the piece out, cut it to half thickness or less, and put half of it back in. So as to make a recess for the item to rest in, just deep enough for the item.

I really wish I could post pics. It was really simple this way.

Thats nifty

All you need is a lead away wet towels, your safty glasses and your ear protection.

I take 3 things now, gun case, supplies bag, box with glasses and hearing protection.

Trying to trim it down.

This was made out of a Plano tackle box purchased at Walmart for around $10
The first three drawers are each setup for a different caliber handgun. The last drawer contains ear plugs, wipes, spare parts and some small screwdrivers. It tends to get heavy with all this, but it's all in one place when I'm ready to head out to the range.
