I was just looking at 30-30 ammo at AimSurplus . They have Prvi Partizan ammo at a pretty good price (50% of what's available here) and I'm thinking of getting some.

But, since I've never heard of Prvi Partizan before, I thught I'd get some opinions on their ammo prior to placing an order.

I've used a good bit of it in various calibers and I really like it. It's many orders of magnitude cleaner and more consistent than a popular Russian brand used by many folks here. I've used it for plinking and hunting, and found that the groups it produced was consistent with popular American premium brands out of my guns.

its supposedly ammo built at the old soviet/communist plants in Serbia. non-corrosive primer, reloadable. this is the same stuff (differant box) as Wolf Gold

Rather, Wolf Gold is rebadged Prvi. It's also seen in actual Prvi packaging, and in "Hot Shot" (or something like that) packaging.

Excellent ammo. Whenever it's around, I usually just clear out gunshops' stocks, funds permitting.

they are on the same level as S&B really. Same area of Europe, been making ammo for many years, etc. Wolf and a couple of others box their stuff, and sell it as their brand.

Thanks all! :D

Time to dig out the old credit card and place an order!

Let's see, 1000rnds / 20perbox = 50 boxes. Sounds about right. Just have to make sure I answer the door first - "Honey, what're you doing with the furniture dolly"? "Just waitin' for the mail, Dear".

I haven't shot any of the post-Balkan War production stuff. What I shot during the early '90s was great ammo, reliable and accurate.

One caveat: It was produced under a communist system. They worked according to the "plan". If the plan said the max case length was "x", then they made the brass that length. Count on trimming on the first reload.

Smells a bit funny for the first couple shots, then olfactory fatigue kicks in. Not sure how accuracy is since I'm a terrible shot. But I was able to keep all my shots pretty close to the middle of a paper plate at 50 yards, with 7.5mm Swiss softpoints through a K-31.

All I said was "a bit funny." That describes it pretty well. It's an unusual smell at first, then you get used to it and stop noticing.
