I own one.. shoots very straight, I like the ambid. mag release and safety cuz I'm a lefty..
I just put a laser on it, the rail is handy too..
Buy a new one, the older ones have problems they've fixed. And if you're handy at all, you might want to download the P22 Bible document, it's google-able. There are a few things to do to make this gun last longer, and they really aren't that hard. Stock, there are a couple of 'grind points' in the slide action that take little chunks out of what should be smooth metal.. and the feed ramp could use polishing and 'alleviating' with Dremel tools.. but none of it is complicated.. I haven't done any of it, and mine has eaten several thousand rounds with no problems.
They have a pretty small grip.. the 'finger rest' magazine is better than the flat bottom one, and both are standard in the box. 2 mags.
I'm very happy with mine and if I didn't do any of those chores on it, I'd still expect it to last for years and work well... but the 'bible' list is going to make it even better if I ever get around to it.
Shoots straight.. did I mention that?
and if you get one, don't use plain lead/waxed bullets, as they really crud up the whole system. Get Remington GOlden Bullet copper plated ammo for practice, and when serious, CCI Stingers. It's known to fail to cycle when using underpowered ammo. sp high or hyper velocity only. And round nose bullets. I tried Vipers today, little 'wad cutter' flat nose bullets, and it did jam on me. They're not really autoloader rounds but I was curious.
Oh, and a fantastic alternative if you can get it is the Bersa Firestorm... very well made, shoots great... probably no aftermarket grips, and no rail for laser, but overall a great shooting all steel .22 auto 10 shotter.
