Wanting a cheap shotgun for trap

Not for $100. But, for twice that and a little you can get an 870 Express that will do what you want for several generations.

Read the archives here, this is a well chewed question....

Lk Win.
I was in your neighborhood earlier this week (Dedham). I Can't offer much in the $100 range but I can second Dave McC's answer. Look for a used 870 or a new Express with the current mail-in rebate.
You will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately. there isn't much out there for a hundred beans that wont punish you. You might be able to find an ol' Mossberg bolt action at the local pawn shop for under $100, but most new offerings are closer to $200.

Keep us posted on your exploits in the realm of shotgunnin'.

More then $100, but I'm very happy with the Mossberg Mav 88 I bought from Walmart. It was about $165 w/ taxes, very solid budget scattergun.

Spend some money and get a decent gun like a remington 870 or something.

Its reliable and will last you. dont go waste your money on some maverick 88, cheap but i dont think they are worth it.

BTW: your from that communism too:)D )?

Maybe I'm being too cheap

I'll take a look at the 870's

...and buy it right after I get the first two guns on my wishlist

Alright, I was once your age, and an AR-15 was my first centerfire rifle. It's a fun rifle, but get the shotgun first. Even working a part time job in high school that 870 should be affordable. They're tough and super reliable. Once you have it with a decent vent rib bbl. of 26 or 28 inches you can do quite a bit with it. After that you get bbls tailored to the specific purpose for $100, maybe a bit more on certain ones. In the 870 you'll have a gun for hunting birds, small game, and even deer with slugs; you can play al the clay games with it too; then you can take it home and use it as a defensive weapon. There is just too much utility in a 12ga shotgun to pass one up. The AR on the other hand is great target, defensive, or varmint rifle.
