I've owned 2 wheel guns in my life, both regretfully had to sell first a Ruger SRH 44mag 9 1/2 bbl, 2nd a Ruger SP101 DAO .357. I really miss having a wheel gun! Both those Rugers we're great guns, but I must say the SP101 was special as I carried it daily and I shot it considerably more. I do plan on replacing the SP101, but I've always wanted a Smith. The 45acp seems like it would be a fun gun to have, whats the story with moonclips? I know they are used because of rimless cartridges, but are they re-useable? Is their a special tool that must be used to load or unload moon clips? Also I've always wanted a Model 29... I know I'll be replacing the SP101, but for my first smith, Im having a hard time deciding!

You might want to look at the size and weight of the Smith 625 before deciding on it. For me it is a little large for carry. Moonclips are reusable. No tools needed.

Look down in this forum to yesterday and you will find a through discussion of 625's.

Moon-Clips do require at least a de-mooner tool to get empty cases out of them. Especially when they are new. They loosen up a little eventually, but still a tool makes quick & easy work of it.

They can be reloaded by hand if you have tough fingers.
Otherwise, a small set of pliers come in handy to pop the rims back in.

There are also RIMZ plastic moon clips that are excellent for range use. They are very easily reloaded by hand.

They just won't work for carry or other serious use because the rounds will fall out if you drop one.
