The Alessi ankle holster is hands down the best I have tried.
I have worn mine everyday now for a couple of years with a J frame.
One thing you might want to consider. A sp101 is going to be heavy.
I found a j frame model 36 heavy and its lighter than the ruger.
I have gone with an airweight and most times I forget I have it on.
What Tech said! I have an SP101 that I carry both OWB and IWB depending on the situation, but I can't imagine carrying it in an ankle holster unless you want to have a gait like "Igor"! Just my .02 cents.
to ankle-carry an SP101, I recommend getting your grandmother's corset and making something from that--run the garters upside down, up to your shorts, that sort of thing....
Well, after all the "constructive" advice, I decided to try the SP 101 in a Galco Ankle Glove holster & the calf strap (trust me just get the strap when you buy the holster - you'll need it to keep the cannon from sliding all the way down to your shoe after even the smallest amount of walking).
It's a pretty comfortable way to carry the gun when carrying on your belt just can't work.. But I can say for certain that you'll not "forget" it's there .
It does not work well on my leg w/boot cut jeans as the gun just prints too much (well really it looks like I'm trying to carry a cat or something stuffed up my leg) . Cargo pants or dress pants keep the printing down to a minimum. If the cuff is narrow I've found darker pants work better to hide the bulging. I've found that sometimes when sitting down the bottom of the holster sticks out (it's black) so I wear black socks & no one has noticed.
The holster quality is top notch as you'd expect from Galco ..
All & all I'm satisfied. I'm just a regular guy - non cop/non military - so YMMV if your lifestyle is different.
