My son made a batch of Lanolin lube up for me. He found the lanolin at a health food store. I believe the alcohol came from the Drug Store. He added a little higher percentage of lanolin than is in the Dillon spray. The home brew works great.

To be honest, I think I have tried most of the lubes on the market over the past 30yrs or so. I found that with the spray on type the old Lyman was about the best. They changed it due for "environmental" reasons I think, and it wasn't as good as it had been so I quit using it. I then switched over to Imperial and never looked back. Once when I was at our farm to do some load development I found I had run off and forgot it, so I simply headed to town and found some of the Kiwi stuff listed above, and it has shown to be just as effective and I have used it there every since, thus not having to remember to load up my tin of Imperial or run off and leave it. Either is quite easily used, simply drag a finger across the top, and swipe enough in the palm of your hand, that when both hands are rubbed together it will apply a very thin film, then lay out 4-6 or so cases and roll them a couple of times and go on with your sizing. I haven't found that it clogs up any of my dies nor does it plug up the very small vent holes either like several others I have tried.

If you want to use a spray on and your worried about it getting into your cases make you up a simple peg board like I did. I laid out the lines on a piece of scrap 1x8 using a tri-square. I set them 1" apart until I had enough to put in 50-1/8" dowel pegs cut to about 2 1/2". I drilled the holes with the depth stop set to 3/8". Cut all the pegs using a miter saw and knocked them into place. Then I simply set all my cases from .223 through what ever size bigger, neck down on top of them and spray away. Allow to dry for 5 or 10 minutes and go to sizing. IT is important to spray them from at least two opposite directions. I usually did a light spray from all 4 just to be sure. Thee is plenty of space between even cases up into the magnum sizes and when you spray hold the board at a slight angle and they all will lean over allowing good coverage.

Hope this helps.

While I think its a waste of time to mess around making case lube, for those wishing to do so that are finding it hard to find 99% alcohol, try the liqueur/party store for EverClear. Just don't drink to much!
