I have some Winchester Action Pistol powder left over from my IPSC days and would like to use it to reload .45 Colt for Cowboy Action Shooting. I've tried the Winchester Powder web page and a couple of other sources, but can't find "offiical" load data for 200 or 250 grain RNFP lead bullets.

Did find a site that recommended 8.6 grains WAP with a 250 grain lead bullet, supposed to yield 776 fps.

Anyone know a source of verified loading info for this powder in .45 Colt? I used it mostly in a STI .40 S&W Limited gun.

Thanks

I can "QuickLoad" it for you when I get home tonite. I don't have my QL software loaded here at work. I'm not sure WAP is going to be a very good powder loaded down that far. Red Dot, American Select, and maybe Clays are probably better choices.

Anyway, what barrel length are you using, and what muzzle velocity do you want (staying under the SAAMI limits, of course)?

Thanks. I've been using 10 grains of AA#5 with a 200 grain RNFP. I know WAP isn't the best choice for a high capacity case and a low velocity load, but I'm not loading .40 any more and would like to use it up if I can. I'm looking for around 800 fps with the 200 grain bullet from 4 5/8" Ruger Vaqueros. I'll use the same load in a '66 Uberti and 1894 Marlin with 24" barrel. Not looking for hot loads at all.

Speer #13 lists a 250 grain lead SWC with WAP.
Test gun = S&W 25-5 6" barrel.

9.4 grains starting load = 832 FPS.

10.4 Maximum = 937 FPS.
