CZ57's postings have had me wanting to try some Ramshot Silhouette for a long time, but I could never find any locally. Finally, I ran into five pounds of the discontinued Winchester Action Pistol (WAP) for a decent buy-out price, and I understand it's exactly the same blend as Silhouette, including the low-flash characteristic. I don't think I'll need anymore pistol powder for the next few weeks! ;)

I have load data for 9mm and 40 S&W covered. Does anyone have WAP/Silhouette data for 357 Magnum to share? I'd like to give it a try. Or, could anyone confirm decent results with Steve Ricciardelli's WAP data of 9-10 gr for a 125 and 7.7-8.6 gr for a 158 (no OAL data)?

Hey, Crimp. I didn't know Steve had worked up load data for .357 Magnum with WAP/Silhouette. I can't confirm his data, but I can tell you that I don't know anyone who puts in more time researching such things. As I mentioned before, the only load I developed was with the .357 140 gr. Rem. SJHP. I had to interpolate a start charge at 8.5 grains which according to Steve's findings, should be right on for the 140. One thing I have discovered after looking over a lot of data and making comparisons to other similar powders is that Silhouette is about .2 grains faster than V-V 3N37. The powders are very close. I can't recommend this to everyone but what I will do in the future for .357 START CHARGES will be to lower the start charge for V-V 3N37 by .2 grains. That you can compare to Steve's recommendations.

I just interpolated Steve's start charges for 125 and 158 gr. bullets. According to what he's listing, 8.4 grains should work out for the 140 gr. START CHARGE. So, I may have been off by .1 grains, maybe not. I used data from the V-V #2 load guide where the start charge for 3N37 was 8.7 grains. I'm sure Steve did something similar. My OACL for the Rem. 140 is 1.580".;)

When you have time, I would very much appreciate a link to where you found Steve's data!;)

HERE ya' go, CZ!

btw, thanks for the VV-Silhouette ratio info. That's a good rule-of-thumb to use for cross-checking load data.

Thanks, Crimp. I lost the address when my last computer crashed. Steve also runs a forum that he started. haven't been there in a while. Probably because I lost that address too!;)

No worries, I know where I can find it.;)
