Was about to buy a used Ruger LC9 today...

I guess muzzle flip would be a more accurate term than "recoil". Either way, for ME, it will take some getting used to. Recoil doesn't bother me, I love shooting heavy .44 mags. But this is just a snappier, more upwards type of recoil that I'm not used to

It's definitely different "feel" than my j-frames or other small guns. I
Like mine though, I'm sure you will like yours too.

It's a great gun to carry. So light and decent capacity.

Hammer059, practice dry-firing will help you get use to the DAO trigger. If you're using WWB, they are snappy.

The only thing that I have had go wrong with ours, is the sights coming loose. Check the rear sight and see if it has red on the set screw, if not, you may want to get some red Loctite just in case. If the front sight comes loose (which seems to rarely happen), I believe Ruger will stake a new one in for you.

Glad to hear it was crud that was causing the original problem. Looks as though you got a decent deal! :)

I like carrying mine in a #3 pocket holster too. No printing and comfortable.

…. It wasn't crud causing the original problem. A part was replaced but the gunsmith didn't provide any more info than that to my LGS.

I had my LC9 for about a week or two. Shot it twice. Now I realize it's meant to be a carry gun and for shorter distances, but even so it was extremely unpleasant to shoot overall. My 642 Airweight was the same size and was fun to shoot. But not the LC9. It's really the trigger that ruined it for me, and I'm not a trigger snob. It was a great size and carried very well, but other than that, no thanks! I sold it and will be getting either a Ruger LC9S or Glock 43 in the near future.

Update: Got a LC9S on sale today for $340 plus tax. I'm very happy with it, mainly due to the difference in trigger pull. As someone who shoots every week, I want to enjoy shooting my firearms as much as possible. The "S" model is a huge improvement!
