Was the P227 dropped?

I was just on Sig's website and the P227 is not listed anywhere anymore, nor is it a selectable pistol in the filter. It's shown but grayed out as a choice to pick.

Did I miss that they dropped it?

I hadn't heard if it was ... shame, a truly under-rated pistol. I've been looking for the SAS Carry version (without rail) for quite a while and haven't been able to nail one down yet. I can't recall the last time I saw a used P-227 for sale in a shop or on one of our regional/local gun boards (those who've got 'em, must be keeping 'em). I've got the regular Carry model, and it's a great gun.

Probably a very narrow market for these- too big to conceal, too bulky for small hands, too expensive for a glove/ tackle box gun, and not many agencies looking for a .45 issue gun these days.

Kinda like the CZ97- a good nightstand or comp gun for guys with big hands but that's about it......:(

Well, I'd disagree that it's too big to conceal -- I'm pretty much an average-sized dude, and this pistol conceals quite well for me in a Kramer Belt Scabbard (moderately high-rise pancake OWB in horsehide). There's also a couple large state law enforcement agencies that issue this pistol.

I seen 2 Ambridge PA police officers carrying p227’s, so apparently there are some smaller agencies who issue it as well.

It's a shame if it has happened. I've considered buying the 10mm version.

It's really not any bigger than the 226 I carry every day, so I agree.

I have often eyed up the 227 SAS but ultimately it's been too hard to justify the cost when I already own so many 1911s. 10 rounds is neat, but 8 is pretty darn close.

Perhaps if they made a Legion SAO version. Yeah, I'd be all over that one

I've been waiting for a Legion P227 for a few years. I guess sales weren't strong enough to warrant it.

Oops...my memory failed me again. Thanks for the correction.
By the way, the 10mm P220 is a fantastic shooter, and if you enjoy the cartridge, I'd really recommend picking one up. Mine has a DA/SA trigger, but the SAO ones have very nice triggers in them. I'm actually thinking about picking a SAO example up as well.

However, IMHO, the P227 should have been the 10mm that Sig put out from the get go. But, it's not like you are under gunned with 9 rounds of 10mm on tap.

The 10 has become one of my favorite rounds. I often carry a G29 (with a G20 mag). The G40 is my woods gun. I even load 10 mm for a S&W 610....it can take everything.

Man, I now feel compelled to buy one before they become unavailable.

Dammit, that's three Sigs I want to pick up and $3200 worth of guns I want to buy now.

Sigh..................................... Who needs two kidneys anyway?

I carry a Model 227 pistol concealed comfortably on occasion in an iwb, Galco "King Tuk" holster. Like JR24 reported, the Model 227 is essentially the same size and weight (not much bigger or heavier, practically speaking) as my Model 226 is.

So I went digging again. Sig offers the P320 in a 10+1 45 acp. I'm just guessing here, but with the popularity of striker fired guns, and the lower cost, folks who want a double stack 45 Sig are probably going with the P320.

I'm sure it's a fine offering, but it's just not the same. I'm maybe going to pull out the credit card after the holidays.
