:cool:But at a store today I handled a Tikka , Ruger , and Mossberg. I was pleased with them all but I saw a REM. 700 BDL AND ASKED TO SEE IT. i DIDNT EVEN HAVE THE RIFLE IN MY HANDS FULLY AND IT HIT ME" THIS IS WHAT i WANT"
the 700 was so nice and the "MID RANGE RIFLES" felt cheap and weeak! I am just going to have to save and get the rifle I would be proud to give to my sone in 20 years VS what I can get right now. I figure a hundred a month gets me the rifle I want in jsut 9 months with Glass.

I got my first 700 in 1980, a BDL in .30-06. I have a Leupold 6x fixed glass, a ching sling, and a QD bipod. It has been used for deer, hogs, coyotes, etc., and never failed. After a couple thousand rounds later, it still shoots the same hole at 100, and is my primary go-to rifle for stocking the freezer.
Save up as you plan to, get a decent scope, practice a good bit, and it will do just fine.

Well I own a TC encore So I have a fine Rifle for feeling the freezer but Its not the rifle I want to commit to forever. That sounds weird But I just dont connect with the rifle Like I do with a solid Bolt rifle. I was thinking I could just go with somthing cheap and plastic but after handling several of them and then picking up a Grade A rifle I just cant.

So I guess Its me and my encore till I can get a Remington or a Ruger. Its going to be a 100% deer rifle so I am thinking 25.06 or Maybe 270. Figure If I need more punch I can just use the encore in somthing heavy.

there's no shortage of used rifles out there, if you want something less expensive sooner

Like I said I got a good rifle right now actually 2 I also have a real Clean M77 in 250. savage down in TX for when I go on leave. I'm gonna save and by a rifle I probably wont ever part with. Its almost certainly gonna be that BDL.
