Went to the store today and in my usual fashion I did not buy ammo until I compared prices but they were odd at my gun store, What do you guy's think:

.223 1000rds in a generic military can (just plain I don't think it was lake city) $450.00

7.62x39 Century Arms stuff (steel) 20rds 5.00

50 BMG could not get a name but it was in an orange box 10rds for 50.00

Wait, are you saying you paid $45 a hundred for surplus 223? Holy smokes I'm glad I'm a reloader!

A bit high, but not terribly far off. I recently bought 500 GA Arms reloaded .223 for $165 and call that a good deal nowadays.

You mean that my $39 800 rds of surplus 8mm has gone up that much.
Sure glad I cast and reload + I use cheap surplus powder you can't find anymore.
Got enough to last me the rest of my days + enough lead alloy for two lifetimes.

It would be much cheaper at AIM, $66 per $200:

New Production .223/5.56x45 M193 ammuntion by Prvi Partizan of Serbia. Brass Case, Boxer Primer Non-Corrosive, 55grn Lead core Copper Jacketed bullet. Packaged 20rds/box, 200rds(10 boxes) 1,000rds/case. While supplies last.

Or it would be roughly the same price as Remington .223:

Its $5 flat rate shipping for a limited time at Cabelas.

Just giving you some options. :scrutiny:

That stuff at Cabelas is all on backorder as far as I can see.

I just paid $346 delivered for 1000 rounds of Prvi Partizan ammo from AIM. That's good ammo.
