I would like to start using my WASR-10 for some hunting and I would need to shoot HP or SP bullets. However the problem is my rifle doesn't like to feed either of those rounds. It will eat up FMJ like it was designed to do but the other rounds get caught up on the breach face.

The SP's will almost always feed but they are deformed quite badly and the HP's will feed ~80% of the time but get deformed as well. The SP's don't shoot as well as the HP's and I'm guessing it is because they are mashed up.
(The circled holes are flyers, I felt myself flinch a little on those.)

I ran a search on fixing this and I'm thinking about enlarging the bevel on the breach face. (See pic.)

My problem is some people said this is a big no-no and others said it is alright and I'm not sure. Also, I know the barrel is chrome lined but does that extend through the chamber? Is there any chance the chrome could start chipping off if I do this? What are some other problems that could occur and how can I avoid them? Thanks in advance for the help.

I just did that exact same thing to my MISR-90. It basically looked exactly like your's does. The breach looked like that, and the rounds were hanging up right on the bottom of the breach smashing the tips just like you're showing. I took a cone shaped dremel to it and in about 3 minutes has created a nice little feed ramp so they don't have to clear that lip. I started in the center and was constantly moving the dremel left to right while the tool was touching steel. It takes steel off quickly so keep it moving. They were jamming about 2 out of 20 before. Now every single one of them has fed flawlessly since. I'm so glad I did it cuz it was bumming me out. Your chrome lining isn't in the chamber; only the barrel itself. Just be sure to clean it well afterwards cuz that dust gets everywhere.

try another mag, i have a magazine that only like "FMJ" other than that it get stock just like yours and sometimes diesn't feed at all, i got some plastic bulgarias mags and they all feed good without a problem, i dont know why... but that the only problem that i got was because of the magazine...

here's a link to the mags that i use,

and as of shooting those bullets... as long as you dont see a mayor difference in accuracy, there shoudn't be a problem.

Might want to check and see if your state has magazine capacity restrictions for hunting.
