Hi everyone. I bought this wasr 10 yesterday from a guy at work, no more than 100 rounds through it. Took it out today and failure to feed is a big problem with this thing. I'm using Wolf hollow points. This happens with all mags. The tip of the bullets are stopping against the very edge of the chamber. It looks like a pointy FMJ would feed more reliably. There is not much of a bevel on the edge of chamber for shell to feed into. Any suggestions how or what to do? Could I widen the bevel around the lower half of chamber opening with a dremel and polish, creating more of a feed ramp? I have several guns but this is my first AK style weapon.Thanks for any input.

You know I have the same problem, im thinking about polishing the ramp up to it. FMJ work just fine

I saw a video on youtube once this guy complained about his wasr failure to use HP rounds and he switched to FMJ rounds and it worked. He can not use HP though.

I hope this helps

Ask a gun smith, it could be simple filing away of the ramp or something(do no file away anything talk to a expert first) by means I am no expert

Wait a minute are you sure you hav ea WASR? AKs are supposed to be reliable and 100 percent functioning even when broke, hell you could feed it the wrong ammo and it should shoot just fine under water after digging it out of the sand.:neener:

+1 mags but I have heard of feeding problems before, there is always a messed up gun in the production lines..... But turely the ak does not have problems, you must have gotten a hater of HP ammo ;) hope FMJ works fine no issues.

If you look at the chamber mouth of your WASR, you may not see a 'feed ramp'. If you look at many other AKs, not all - you will see it. Hungarians and SAIGAs have them - on the SAIGA I saw last week, it is VERY deep. While my Century YUGO had no feeding problems, I noted that tips often struck the chamber mouth. So... I found a tool on my el cheapo dremel, and went to CAREFUL work. Now, if my HPs hit, they will slide right on through and keep the tip from getting deformed.

Your problem may be worse. May be the angle of the mags.

The one on the right is an SA-85, the one on the left is the YUGO do-it-yourself ramp. Your problem could be something else. Also, you don't want to take away case head support. Just something I noticed on some AKs.

OP couold you post a few pictures of your guts of the ak47 ~

~and if a few other members post a few pics that would be great, we can compare what is wrong in the guts.

Alright I post up pictures later, and it might be the fact that it has only been on my hungarian 20rders haha go figure, i'll have to do some research!

Problem fixed, yay! I carefully extended the bevel further around to the right hand side where it was lacking, (where the bullet tips were hitting) with, I know, a dremel, and polished it up. Careful not to decrease any case support. I just ran two full mags through it with no problems. I was really bummed about this because it failed to feed about every third shot. Now it shoots great. Thanks for all replies.

ok what is that picture........ I see a ak reciver with a power plug on the buttstock. With a dremel mounted to it.

Is this some sort of secret weapon :scrutiny:

:confused::confused:

The only HP 7.62x39 I've seen was from Wolf and it didn't really look like it would do anything different from a regular tip, or at least not like the other HP SD rounds you see out there. Does the round really matter much with an AK? I shoot the cheapo Wolf steel cased bullets with mine and I figure they'll tear anything up. I would absolutely hate to get shot by that thing, which is why it's sitting by my bed :D
