You would think that after all the years he has had in politics he would be a better public speaker. I can't imagine a debate :uhoh:
 
I'll be watching. I was kinda surprised to find out it was taped yesterday, but I won't be surprised when the leftists point to that as proof that it was all manipulated by the evil Republicans.

Apparently all the usual suspects have been complaining BEFORE THEY SEE IT that Tim Russert was going to throw softballs. So they've been sending e-mails to "Meet The Press" demanding that Russert press Bush as to why he kicks puppies and babies, and getting Bush to admit that he is secretly trying to conquer the world. Anything less and they will scream "fix".:D
 
If being a great public speaker means that you are a good President then Slick Willy needs to be added to Mount Rushmore.

Exactly. This argument against Bush being a capable President or leader really falls flat. Bush is a guy that (despite his wealthy family) is more of a product of Midland, Texas than his father who was always walking the fence between Northeastern elitist and Texas oilman.

Bush speaks very plainly, unlike a guy like Clinton who actually believes that you can carefully parse a word like "is" to get a new meaning. Like many who support Bush, I also wish that sometimes he would be more effective at public speaking, but his plain-spoken style is part of his appeal. He's not a career politician who has aimed for the White House since the 6th grade, and has spent years refining his public persona for the media.

The Bush/Clinton comparisons will be with us for a very long time-good, bad, or otherwise. When it comes down to style vs. substance and credibility, there's little I need to remember about either to decide who has been a more effective leader, and a President I can be proud of. geegee

I saw that at a Barnes & Noble last night. I'll wait till it appears in paperback before I buy it, buy I sure as heck will buy it. Tyrrell is one funny son of a gun, and his book on Bill Clinton is one of my favorites (favorite book about that reprobate, that is). geegee

I think two Bushes is plenty, thank you.

It's time for a Republican to come out of the new economy, perhaps from the West.

Being slick doesn't impress me. Do I wish he had the eloquence of a William F. Buckley? Of course. Do I cringe when I hear "nucular peninshoela"? Like a beaten dog I cringe.

But better the foible of misspeaking from time to time, than being a silver-tongued blackhearted rat.

Yeah, he's a redneck with a big wallet.

Used to think he was a conservative, but that is not true. The guy is all over the map. Out dems the Democrats on some issues, gets pretty close to facism in others, and ignors some big problems which I hear people talking about on a pretty regular basis.

That really upsets me.

Is there a conservative party out there? The Republicans are straining so hard to make this party an "everyman's" party, that it really doesn't stand for a whole lot of anything except to get elected.

All the promises we got from the Republican party about how things were going to get fixed, and we end up with a party just like the Democrats-I don't think the Republican party really cares who is in office so long as there is a big R next to their name.

To be fair to the President, it is nice to have someone with a little bit of personal moral character. rather than one who treats the White House as a cat house. But until Slick was elected, I didn't think that was something you had to wonder about. Yeah, I know-history and all that, but I don't ever recall it as being quite so blatant before.
