i have my re-up bonus comming in about a month and have really been looking hard at the DPMS LR-SASS, but it is kinda pricy, with the bonus that really dosen't matter, but any money i can save will be that much better. so i would like some ideas to what you guys think are the best of the best ar platform rifles in .308. i know the bushmasters take FAL mags and that bushmaster is no longer producing any rifles in .308. But i have had a bushmaster e2s in the past and was very pleased, i have also been thinking about the armalite as well so please help me out here and give me some direction, as to what you guys reccomend. It is gonna be a 200 to 600 meter gun.with a scope mounted but also a red dot that can be put on it depending on METT-T. one reason i like the dpms sass is because of the 18" barrel it would be good out to extended ranges but also be good for room clearing and MOUT type work as well. any help is much appreciated. thanks

Consider asking at AR15.Com, they have a whole section regarding this subject, thank you for your service to our country.

You might also look into the Rock River Arms line of 308 ARs.
They won't be out until summertime but they will have both
16 and 20 inch barrel lengths as well as longer precision/varmint
barrels. I really like the consistant quality of the Rock Rivers
ARs in 223/5.56 although I still think I'd rather have an M1A or a
FAL for a 308. The Bushmaster 308 I had was a little disappointing
in the functioning department.
