Way Of The Gun - Error Spotted

Ok y'all,

One of my favorite movies is "Way of the Gun", but in one scene, there is a glaring error. This has always bothered me since this is one of the few correctly-made gun films.

Anyone else spot it?
 
I found the whole movie to be an error ..............as I suffered through it a while back. Nothing but 'gratuitous violence' just for violence sake and IMHO an all to common typical Hollywood steaming-coil.
 
They use a lot of ammo in the Old Mexican Bordello scene, like when they are shooting through a wall at a target they can't see. They didn't look like they were carrying so much ammo.

Scenes early in the movie looked to be (I cringe to use the word, I really do)
tactically sound. They were using cover, aiming where they wanted to shoot.

In the Bordello scene, though, they were willing to run into the courtyard to get the sack of money, knowing that as soon as they go out there, the place turns into a firing range.

They probably knew it was near the end of the movie, though, and they had to find a way to get killed.

Could it be that the blood drip on Dr. Painter's face gets longer and then shorter?

Or that they're driving south and the sun is coming up in the west?

Or the cyclic rate of the semi-auto Galil?

Or...

Hey, it's my favorite gun movie, but I've been hypercritical of movies since I started watching them...and I've been losing friends steadily since. :)
 
Other than the sewing machine stitching of the walls in the mexican hotel being about perfect I really don't know.

So don't leave us hanging....ruin it for us already will ya.:)
 
In the scene in the Mexican bordello there's a part where Benicio fires about 25 shots without a reload.


I doubt you'll ever find a movie that has absolutely perfect gun handling, but ones that make a fair effort at it, with a minimum of errors are fine by me.

(Even Heat has a few errors!:what: )
 
At one point Ryan Phillipe pushes his pistol right out of battery when jamming the muzzle against Juliette Lewis. Anyone as knowledgeable as those two were supposed to be would have known better.
 
Well...when Benicio del Toro is shooting through the wall, it looks like he fires about 60 shots before reloading, and those magazines didn't look so big.

And they knew the courtyard was full of bag men who were going to be gunning for them, but as they say in the movie, that wasn't money out there, it was "a motive with a universal adapter". They had to get it. That was the whole point. They had nothing to lose, since they were down to selling their blood and sperm in the first part of the movie.
 
On the commentary track of the DVD, they mention the 21 or 22 shots without a visible reload toward the end. Originally you could count the rounds between reloads but due to editing complications, there ended up being about 3 or 4 reloads that are not visible on screen. They said there was an ex Navy SEAL on the set most of the time and that he gave both stars a crash course in gun handling and entry and exit tactics. Most of the time, the movie has excellent gun handling. All else equal, one of the better ones I've ever seen.

I'm getting over my fascination with the movie but I still like it a lot. Another aspect I enjoy is that noone, NOONE, is a 'good guy'. They're just varying levels and directions of being bad. Even the talking extras are bad.

The USP's were probably carried in DA mode. Cocking for the 'cool hollywood effect.' I'd personally carry it cocked and locked.

Still one of my fav gun movies, just caught it last week.
 
The glaring error I noticed was during the botched kidnapping scene.

Benecio's Golt Govt. was uncocked (had the hammer down) while he was hiding behind Juliette Lewis.

In comparison, both of Ryan Phillipe's guns were properly in Cond. 1 while pointed at bodyguards' heads.

Pretty good gun handling throughout movie otherwise.
 
Hey, the movie is worth watching just for Joe and Abner. I thought the AD scene and the folowing meeting was pretty neat (among a dozen others) too.
BTW, just counted...when Benicio stitches the wall with the Galil, there are 26 shots fired..just counted. I assume it was the .308 version.
 
OK, CWL, time is up. Which error of those stated were you referring to? Or is there another one we haven't mentioned? ;)
