Excellent. I loved this movie with 1 exception. Everytime someone kicked in a door or moved around the corner then jumped out an made a tasty target of themselves. Of course I guess this explains why everyone but 1 guy died.

I wonder why Del Torro didn't pack more ammo for that master blaster machine gun of his. Also, why not 9mm highcaps. I think I see now why the army wants the high cap 9mm instead of a 7 round 1911. If Del Torro didn't have to reload, his partner would have made it with the money and he wouldn't have to have dragged him.

Man...I need to get a life.

Here's a pic for you.

Well, I have to put that one on my list now too.:D

Already watched a some that were mentioned in the recent gun movie posts such as The Outlaw Josey Wales. Now have Full Metal Jacket rented and waiting to be watched.

Currently trying to brainstorm a good excuse for buying "Band of Brothers" - I just can't stomach the thought of renting 6 seperate dvd's - $4x6 to rent and I would have payed half the price of owning them for good. Hmmmm....I got it - Father's day!!!:D

He was carrying a Galil. Maybe he just couldn't scrounge up more mags where they were? I mean, it's kinda obvious that the stuff they purchased wasn't on the up-and-up, anyways.

And we all know that you'd need more shots with a 9mm to take a man down anyways, so it'd work out the same in the end. ;-P

For all those looking to purchase this movie outright, Best Buy has it for $6.99. No, thats not a sale, thats its everyday price! I bought a few copies for friends already. Not a single one has been disappointed by it.

That's one of my favorite movies. How can you not like a pair of "bad" guys who both carry 1911s? The gun handling is exceptionally good throughout the movie. Del Torro's one handed drills in the final shootout are superb.

My only gripe is the way the pair of kidnappers went after the money in the final battle. The two characters obviously knew a thing or two about tactics (the kidnapping sequence they pulled off was pretty darn slick). Yet they both ran out into the center of the courtyard, into an obvious trap. They shoulda known better. Oh well...

Just bought it at WallyWorld from their $5.00 bin on DVD. Good movie, liked that even the bad guys used IWB holsters and I guess Caan showed the revolver still works. Good lesson, never leave the hostage with a loaded double barrel shotgun.

Yeah, given how thay had operated up to that point, I don't think they would have really just charged out into the courtyard for the money. I think they would have tried to discern what they were up against first by sneaking around and peeking out of cracks in windows and maybe clearing the rest of the rooms to be sure. Personally, I would have suspected the bags of being trapped with bombs or something.

As far as 1911 vs. something with more rounds in it, for the way they operated, high cap 9mms would have definately been better. 15+ rounds gives you considerably more leeway in providing cover fire, and they did a great deal of that. 7 rounds just isn't much for cover fire.

And, as I always say, two 9mms to the high chest will kill you just as dead as two .45s to the high chest. And no one shoots the target just one time, even with a .45, so those 7 rounds dry up fast. Now, hi-cap .45s is another story. Something like an STI or H&K MK23 with a short extension on the mags...14-15 rounds of .45. If a handgun of less than .44 magnum will kill it, that would kill it.

As they remarked: "There's always free cheese in a mousetrap." I think they realized there really was no other way to handle the situation, and their other statement--"What do you think?" "I think a plan is just a list of things that don't happen"--displayed that everything had gone to hell in a handbasket anyways.

They probably wouldn't be using IWB holsters with a Mk. 23 or the like, though. ;-)

I guess it could be inferred that they used 1911s because it's what they shot best.

Yeah, 7 or 8 rounds on target beats 15 rounds missing the target. Always shoot with what you shoot best.
