For years my 45ACP load was 6.5 gr. of Unique under a Lee 230gr. tumble lubed round nose. Read in a couple gun rags that 6.5 gr. was accurate load. It is accurate. I justified this with Lyman data of 7.3 Unique max. with 225 gr. LRN. I know, don't believe everything you read in magazine articles. I have since read Alliant data Any suggestions on what reloading manual to buy?

I like Speer and Sierra but have Lyman and some more. Nosler Sierra and Lyman give an accuracy load and most of the time they are on the money. I use the 6.5 Unique with a 230 myself it hits 920 FPS,

If I were only going to buy one reloading manual, it would be the Lyman. Lee has a lot of loads in their manual, but they just copy them from everyone else. Lyman always has good sections on reloading basics, powder identification, etc.

I have a collection of old manuals. Always nice to double check loads and in some cases, the newer manuals may drop a particular load, so it's nice to have a secondary source for loads.

I have a magazine article from back before the internet, and one of their favorite loads was a hard cast 230 with 6.5 grains of Unique. I have used this same load for years, but since Alliant changed the Unique powder some I have backed off to a bit over 6 grains. Accuracy seems about the same.
