hello,
i have just ordered 8lbs of this because the label on the outside of the jug says .223 / 55gr / 26grs.
and because the 2230, h335, 8208, and others are either hard to come by or way over priced.

jumped on this also cuz if it did work for 223/5.56, i wanted to make sure i got some.

anyhow, after doing some net surfing i have found little in the way of anyone using this or any such "home data" for it. closest i found any info was its burn rate comp. which is just below aa2230 & above h335.

just wondered if any of you have used this and know more than what i found or someplace that has some pertinent info for it. Ballistic assistant is where i found the burn rate but not much else.

any help would really be appreciated! thanks for your time fellows!

I am a fan of milsurps and have used a lot of WC 844. I have reduced loads with Wc 844 quite a bit in search of cast bullet accuracy in some odd calibers. It did not do anything strange when loaded down. It did start burning very dirty (as expected).

The ballistic assistant data puts Wc 732 as a smidge faster than H335 / WC 844.

The load data from American Reloading is 26 gr in a 223 under a 55 gr bullet. This is a higher charge than the 25.3 gr Hodgdon gives for H335. Even with more powder, the quoted velocity of 3150 fps is less than the 3203 fps given for the H335 load. This makes it sound like this batch was a tad slower than H335.

With the lot-to-lot variances of milsurps, and given the lack of direct correlation to a known powder, starting at a cautious 15% below max is not a bad idea.

I recommend you do a load workup for the 55 gr 223 and see if you can get to the 26 gr using the Hodgdon COAL. If 26.0 gr is not too hot for your liking, this would tend to validate that H335 data is safe, but you might not get published velocities.

My bet is that your powder is close enough for you to use H335 data (with a 15% reduction for starting loads).

hey thanks best info i received yet. yes, i always start 10-15% below.
thanks again!

is powder too fast for .308 seeing it close but faster that h335?

My bet probably a little on the fast side I have used WC 846 quite a bit in 308

I know of and have used WC820, WC844 and WC846 and seen some WC297 but this is the first I have heard of WC732. I'm very interested in this, thank you.
