I'm looking at Varget, H335 or Accurate 2230 for reloading .223 for my Ar-15.

Probably loading 55gr FMJ or 62/63 gr FMJ for the most part. Possibly some soft point for prairie dogs in the future. But honestly that would be out in the future as I would want a different upper with a longer barrel for that purpose.

Any feedback from the group on a preference?

WW748.
It was developed specifically for the military 5.56, and flows through a powder measure like water.

Ramshot makes X-Terminator powder that is clean burning. I have some Varget that I am going to load up to try out for the .223 also. I use Varget for my 7mm-08 and it is does great for that caliber.

2230 is very similar to W748 and BL-C(2), which are all related to WC846.

I like AA 2230 because it meters well, and can be had for $104 per 8 lbs jug at out new Sportsmen's warehouse. That's less than $12 per pound. Pretty hard to beat.

H335 is pretty close to WC844 military powder.

H4895 is working for me right now with 60gr vmaxes at about 3100 fps in a 22 incher but both Varget and RL-15 are also very good.

IMR4895 has worked well with 60 grain VMax's for me.

I also like H335 with 65 grain Gamekings.

I didn't have the results with Varget that I thought I should have had, but then again, I haven't experimented enough yet.

Thanks all. I went with the H335. as I bonus I picked up a pound of A2495 on clearance for 10 bucks. Accurate has load data using 2495 for 223 as well.

I used kegs of AA2495 in my M1a, and did load testing in the .223. It will provide superb accuracy in .223, 308, and the 30-06. The basic reason is, when I called Accurate Arms, they told me that they mix the powder to match the pressure curve of IMR 4895. It is hard to beat 4895 in medium capacity cases.

I had excellents results in the .223 using the 69 SMK at 24.5 grains, and with the 80 SMK 23.0 grains.

I love 4895. I use it behind 60 gr Sierra Varmiters as my 100 yd match loads and behind 68 gr Hornady match HPBT Match bullets as my 200 and 300 yd loads. I also use it behind 150 gr FMJs for plinking rounds for my Garand. Its an excellent powder.

I use IMR 4895 in .223, .303,.30-06, 30-30, .30 Carbine, .308, and 7.62x39. Shoots great in Garands, a dozen WWII bolt actions, AKs, Galil, lever action, ARs and Fals.

Thanks all. I went with the H335.

H335 has provided me with outstanding .223 accuracy specifically with 52 and 55 match bullets. It meters extremely well .

H322 and Benchmark are two of my other favorites for top accuracy for bullets up to 69 grains. Both meter pretty well for me.

Varget has given me very good results in a Savage .223 but it does not meter worth a hoot and I always use the trickler. Once my current supply is exhausted I'll just stick with the other 3 Hodgdon powders.

Winchester 748 has also given me good results with the 52 grain bullets and meters just like H335.

Out of my Savage Model 12, H335 is extremely accurate. I am trying Varget and H322, but so far H335 is winning.

I've been using Win 748. Really good accuracy, totally reliable function. I've been loading 25.7 grains. No signs of over pressure IN MY RIFLES. Always start low and work up (I know, I know, Im restating the obvious, but...).
