My (somewhat) local paper recently ran an opinion piece encouraging the SCOTUS to take up the Washington DC gun ban case. In the piece the author, Dan K. Thomasson, stated that there were almost nightly shootings in DC especially in certain "drug infested neighborhoods".
I thought about the piece for a couple of days and decided to write a letter to the editor. I sent my letter via e-mail ( it was as easy as posting on THR) and waited.
There were three letters to the editor saying about the same thing that I said (gun bans only keep guns from law abiding citizens) across the next few days.
I was glad that so many people felt strongly enough to write and glad that the paper printed them. I didn't think about it anymore until I came home from work and was asked by my wife "did you see your letter in the paper?". Lo and behold my letter was there in its entirety.

That makes four printed responses to one opinion piece.

So please, gentle readers, do write to your local paper and local politicians regarding your concerns for the second ammendment.

P.S. My wife said that the reason my letter was printed was because it was low key and logical.

PPS. no links because I can not find archived letters to the editors on the papers web site.
